'A Nightmare on Elm Street' Movie Review

The dreams of the residents of a small suburban town are haunted by a demonic soul bent on revenge. As people die in their sleep, a group of young students are determined to stay up and figure out how to beat the demon and save their town.

Starring Jackie Earle Haley, Katie Cassidy, Kellan Lutz, Kyle Gallner, Rooney Mara, Thomas Dekker, Freddy Krueger is back to bring A Nightmare on Elm Street again! This remake is directed by Michael Bayers who did some music videos for My Chemical Romance & Green Day. Though he received some negative reviews on his first commercial film, I think that he did well, and it translated to box office too!  This movie open as #1 in the US.

I really liked the CGI in the movie especially on it's dream sequences with Nancy and the CGI on Freddy's face. CGI was used on portions of his cheeks that had to appear open. You better watch out for those quiet moments on this movie because there's a lot of "suprises" or else you'll end up screaming like a teenage fangirl.

They add another twist to the story, on the back story, they revealed that Freddy is a child molester and his victim is the children in the small school where he worked as a gardener. The parents finds out about it and out of their anger they burned Freddy Krueger alive. The story of the movie started 25 years after that.

Fact: one of the kids is a video blogger :D

A Nightmare on Elm Street runs for 95 minutes and it's rated PG-13 by the MTRCB. Released in the Philippines by Warner Bros. Pictures, this movie will open nationwide on May 12, 2010.
