B efore there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, New Line Cinema's “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga) were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

From New Line Cinema comes a feature film drawn from the case files of married demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren. “The Conjuring” stars Academy Award® nominee Vera Farmiga (“Orphan”), Patrick Wilson (“Prometheus”), Ron Livingston (HBO’s “Band of Brothers”) and Lili Taylor (“Public Enemies”), under the direction of James Wan (“Saw,” “Insidious”).

Joey King (“Crazy, Stupid, Love.”), Shanley Caswell (“Detention”), Haley McFarland (TV’s “Lie to Me”), Mackenzie Foy (“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn”) and newcomer Kyla Deaver play the family's five daughters, and Sterling Jerins (upcoming “World War Z”) is the Warrens’ little girl, Judy.

Wan directs from a script by brothers Chad & Carey W. Hayes (“The Reaping”). The film is produced by Peter Safran, Tony DeRosa-Grund and Rob Cowan, with Walter Hamada and Dave Neustadter serving as executive producers.

Wan reunites behind the scenes with members of his “Insidious” creative team: director of photography John Leonetti, editor Kirk Morri and costume designer Kristin M. Burke, and his “Saw” production designer, Julie Berghoff.

“The Conjuring” is a New Line Cinema production and will be distributed in the Philippines by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

I was invited by Nuffnang Philippines & Unitel Pictures on The Red Shoes Preview Night at the Podium, last week. The movie may sounds foreign, but it was actually made by Filipinos. It's from the same movie outfit that brought us the hit, Inang Yaya & The Crying Ladies . The Red Shoes is not your usual bubblegum love story, the movie uses a lot of interesting metaphors that makes the film interesting. The choice of Marvin Agustin & Nikki Gil is perfect, I'm not really a fan of these two but after seeing the film, I must say that Nikki Gil is one of those underrated Pinay actresses. Tessie Tomas sure brought up the loud laughs among audience and Iwa Moto brings in the hhmmmm... The story does not really happened in real life, but it makes you feel otherwise. A world class film, I must say. It's gonna worth your every peso.
