“THE RITE”


Inspired by true events, New Line Cinema's supernatural thriller “The Rite” follows skeptical seminary student Michael Kovak (Colin O’Donoghue), who reluctantly attends exorcism school at the Vatican. While in Rome, he meets an unorthodox priest, Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins), who introduces him to the darker side of his faith.

Directed by Mikael Håfström (“1408”), “The Rite” uncovers the devil’s reach to even one of the holiest places on Earth. The film stars Oscar® winner Anthony Hopkins (“Silence of the Lambs,” “Wolfman”), Colin O’Donoghue in his feature film debut, Alice Braga (“Predators”), Ciarán Hinds (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” films), Toby Jones (“Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”) and Rutger Hauer (“Batman Begins,” “Blade Runner”).


Contrafilms’ Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson (“The Exorcism of Emily Rose”) produced the film. The screenplay was penned by Michael Petroni (“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”), suggested by the book by Matt Baglio. Toby Emmerich, Richard Brener, Merideth Finn and Robert Bernacchi serve as executive producers.

Opening soon across the Philippines, New Line Cinema’s “The Rite” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

A aron Eckhart (“The Dark Knight”) leads the cast of Columbia Pictures' “World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles” as Staff Sergeant Nantz, a career Marine who is “pretty burnt out,” the actor says. On the brink of retirement, he is pressed back into service. “He’s leading a bunch of young Marines into a battle with aliens in L.A. He’s doing it reluctantly, but that’s just the type of hero that I love to watch.” Director Jonathan Liebesman calls Eckhart, “one of the most incredible actors working today. Stunning Visual Effects in "World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles"

I n Columbia Pictures' sci-fi action-thriller “World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles,” the City of Angels is destroyed by unknown, alien forces… and visual effeccts supervisor Everett Burrell. Preparing to do his worst, Burrell flew in a helicopter between San Diego and Los Angeles, taking digital photos of the southland – wide shots that would become the background plates for the film for Burrell to use as a tool of his trade. “Once [director] Jonathan Liebesman had chosen the shots he liked, we could add smoke, fire, and city destruction,” Burrell explains. But making the destruction was just the beginning – Burrell and his team were also responsible for creating the destroyers.
