THE TOWN Movie Review

I've watched THE TOWN at Cinema 3 of PowerPlant Mall in Rockwell Center, it was my first time visiting the place so I got a hard time finding the mall. That also means I'm a bit late, but nonetheless I still watch the important parts of this movie :)

PLOT 8 / 10
A team of four lifelong friends — Doug MacRay, James Coughlin, Albert "Gloansy" Magloan, and Desmond "Dez" Elden, from the tough streets of Charlestown, Massachusetts — rob a Cambridge bank, taking bank manager Claire Keesey hostage. After her release, Doug follows Claire and they begin a relationship. He reveals that his mother deserted his family and may have moved to Tangerine, Florida. FBI agent Adam Frawley surveils the crew and realizes they work for 'Fergie' Colm, a local florist. Doug is hesitant to undertake their next assignment, and his fears are confirmed during the robbery in the North End, where gunfire erupts. The police arrive quickly, a chase ensues, and the team barely escapes.

CAST & CHARACTERS 9 / 10
Ben Affleck as Doug MacRay is a very effective potraying his role, he is sporting a new tan now, which suits his character. If his previous films were just mediocre and just plain blahs, his character on this film is very different. FYI, Ben Affleck is also the director of THE TOWN. Jeremy Renner as James "Jem" Coughlin is a very good choice to be the partner in crime of Doug Macray.

Pete Postlethwaite's role as Fergie the Florist, the crime boss in the town and Owen Burke as Desmond "Dez" Elden is a very good choice as well, they really look like villains and will do nothing good LOL. I also liked Blake Lively as Krista Coughlin, this girl can really act well. She plays as the sister of Jem, and Doug's ex-girlfriend who has a 19-month-old daughter, he looked like a generic wh*re too :]

MUSIC SCORE 8 / 10
I don't noticed it that much. Since I think, this is an action-packed film they don't put too much emphasis on the music score.

SPECIAL EFFECTS/CGI 8 / 10
The movie has an amazing POV (point of view) that makes me feel that I'm part of the shoot-out or the car chase scene. I think they put the cameras on the car itself so movie goers will feel the excitement of those amazing car chase scenes, which they did effectively. The sounds of the guns and bullets is so loud too, you will the excitement and the fear as if your there.

WHAT I DONT LIKE ABOUT THIS MOVIE: I don't find any thing unlikable in this movie but this one is not recommended for kids so I think that's also a setback. It's R-13 by the way.

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS MOVIE: This flick feels so real with all those realistic scenes and characters. I also like the moral value it can give to movie watchers that everyone can change for the better if they really want to.

THE TOWN will be shown starting October 6 across the Philippines, released by Warner Bros. Rated R-13 by the MTRCB and runs for 123 minutes.
