I n 2007, German director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film for “The Lives of Others.” The searing portrait of a Stasi agent set against the political intrigue and subsequent collapse of the East German state, the film marked both his debut as a director and one of the most acclaimed releases of the decade. In January 2011, von Donnersmarck returns with his long-awaited follow up and first Hollywood film, “The Tourist,” which follows the exploits of Johnny Depp’s American innocent abroad in Europe, Frank Tupelo - a man who gets more intrigue than he bargains for when he falls for Angelina Jolie’s enigmatic screen siren, Elise.

A ctor-on-the-rise Jesse Eisenberg plays an under-achieving guy who has to put aside his epic falling out with an ex-bestfriend in order to rob a bank, in Columbia Pictures' new, action-comedy “30 Minutes or Less.” In the film, Nick (Eisenberg) is a small town pizza delivery guy whose mundane life collides with the big plans of two wannabe criminal masterminds (Danny McBride and Nick Swardson). The lowlifes kidnap Nick and strap a time bomb to him – with the promise that they’ll blow him up unless he robs a bank. With only a few hours to pull off the impossible task, Nick enlists the help of his ex-best friend, Chet (Ansari). As the clock ticks, the two must deal with the police, hired assassins, flamethrowers, and their own tumultuous relationship. “Nick is a pizza delivery guy who dropped out of college a few years back and now feels a bit stuck,” says Eisenberg, describing his character. “It takes a bomb getting strapped on him to light a fire under him, so to speak.”

I just home from the advance screening of I AM NUMBER FOUR at Cinema 6 of SM Megamall. Before I start, let me say that this kind of movies really tickle my fancy. I love fantasy films with great CGI and all that stuff, so when I received an invite for this movie, I immediately said yes. For your reference here's a short synopsis of the film: Extraordinary teen John Smith (Alex Pettyfer) is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events-his first love (Dianna Agron), powerful new abilities and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny. The film is based on the New York Times best selling novel I Am Number Four , written by Jobie Hughes and James Frey (with the pen name of Pittacus Lore). I forgot to check out...

I first saw this newly opened Newport Cinema in Newport Mall in Resorts World Manila when they invited me and other bloggers for the special screening of Despicable Me in 3D. The cinemas are spacious and seats are so comfortable. This state of the art theaters are equipped with the latest Dolby Digital Audio technology. They currently have four cinemas and one of those is the Newport ULTRA Cinem a where you can experience twin-seater, fully reclining seats and unlimited popcorn & drinks served by their personal butlers. If you ran out of popcorn or drinks you just have to request through a call button allocated per pod for your personalized service. Cool eh? Resorts World Manila is located just infront of  NAIA3 in Pasay City. If you are near the MRT Taft Station, you can go the bus terminal at McDo (Taft EDSA) and look for the shuttle bus with "NAIA Terminal 1,2, 3 Loop" sign. Just tell the driver you're going to Resorts World :) For inquiries and ticket ...
