Kick-Ass Movie Review: I Can't Fly, But I Can Kick Your Ass!

When I saw the trailer of Kick-Ass when I've watch Clash of the Titans at Gateway Cinema weeks ago, it really get's me excited. Luckily, I was able to score some premiere night invites at Cinema 6 of SM Megamall yesterday :) Here's some quick synopsis:

Teen geek & comic book fanatic Dave Lizewski (played by Aaron Johnson) makes a totally bizarre but brave decision--- he is going under disguise as a superhero, minus the superpowers. And he’s going to be known as Kick-Ass. Donned in a green and yellow wetsuit bought online, he prowls the city to fight crime. However, he’s not the only superhero out there. The fearless and highly-trained father-daughter crime-fighting duo Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) have been slowly but surely taking down the criminal empire of local Mafioso Frank D’Amico (Mark Strong). Another fledgling superhero joins them by the name of Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who happens to be Frank’s son.

KICK-ASS is based on the comic book of the same name written by Mark Millar and illustrated by John Romita, Jr.

Despite all those profanity & vulgar jokes especially from 11-years old Hit Girl, this movie is ass-kicking. No wonder, it's rated R-13 by the MTRCB. Anyway, the movie is better than I expected & the title of the film is really suitable! Hit Girl should be the main character of this film! She has all that angst and you will not believe that those words she uttered is coming from a 11 years old girl.

I'm really ecstatic when Hit Girl mention the word "Filipino" in the movie, when she was talking about the 'Butterfly Knife' or Balisong as we simply call it. "I actually learned to flip two balisongs (Filipino folding knives] at the same time, one in each hand too. And the last two months of it I spent at the Toronto Circus School! They took me there because they wanted me to get really flexible for the role."  Chloë Grace Moretz tells in one of her interview.

A really recommended movie, not for kids though. See the cool gang of 4 do some nasty stunts in KICK-ASS as it hits theaters on April 16. Released by Viva International Pictures.

  4. I really liked this film, especially hit girl, she was awesome!

I don't think anyone could have pulled it off better than Chloe, seriously. Some people are even saying the movie should be called hit girl, she's that dominating and fantastic .

Overall I think it was a good movie that you can have fun with your friends with. I really like the hero without powers concept too, might inspire people.
