Jason Sudeikis Stars in 2 Warner Comedies "Hall Pass" and "Horrible Bosses"

Funnyman Jason Sudeikis (TV's “Saturday Night Live”) made audiences laugh as the quirky bestfriend of Justin Long's character in the romantic comedy “Going the Distance.” Now, he's set to amuse moviegoers again with two consecutive edgy comedies from Warner Bros. First up in April, Sudeikis stars opposite Owen Wilson in the Farrelly Brothers' new raunch-fest “Hall Pass.” Then come August, he shares top billing with Colin Farrell and Jennifer Aniston in the dark comedy “Horrible Bosses.”

In “Hall Pass,” best friends Rick and Fred (Wilson and Sudeikis) have both been married for a long time. They love their wives, but, like some guys, just can’t help checking out every other woman who crosses their paths. Fed up with this habitual rubber-necking, their wives (Jenna Fischer and Christina Applegate) take a bold approach to revitalize their marriages by granting their husbands a “hall pass”: one week of freedom to do whatever they want, no questions asked. Seven days to see exactly what it is out there they think they’re missing…or stop looking once and for all.

“Rick and Fred aren’t the coolest guys in the world but they don’t know that,” Sudeikis describes his and Wilson characters. “I always find it funny when people think they’re so sharp and act like know what they’re talking about when, clearly, they don’t.”

Sudeikis believes the characters' quandary about marriage will resonate with audiences because, “I can imagine the conversations being had after people see it. You’re laughing and having a good time, then, afterwards, you might be asking each other, ‘What would you do if you had a hall pass? Could you handle it?’ I think it could open up many cans with many worms.”

Unlike Wilson's character Rick who's more of a straight-laced husband, Fred is free to be the wild card and the instigator—or the perfect wingman. Comparing his character with that of his onscreen partner-in-crime, Sudeikis observes, “Rick is more thoughtful about the hall pass, asking himself, ‘Should I be doing this? Is it a good idea?,’ whereas Fred is gung-ho. He’s like, ‘Let’s do it!’ Fred is the guy who, if they were discussing a plan on the battlefield, would take off before the plan is fully explained. He’d be the first one out of the foxhole.”

Sudeikis' next film “Horrible Bosses” is directed by Seth Gordon and also stars Kevin Spacey, Justin Bateman and Jamie Foxx. The film centers on three best friends frustrated by their jobs, and who think the only thing that would make the daily grind more tolerable would be to grind their intolerable bosses into dust. Quitting is not an option, so, with the benefit of a few-too-many drinks, the three friends devise a convoluted and seemingly foolproof plan to rid themselves of their respective employers…permanently.

Both distributed by Warner Bros., “Hall Pass” opens across the Philippines on April 6, to be followed by “Horrible Bosses” on August 17.
